As they are normally first impression of your businesses branding how do you get the right impact for a potential customer and what information do you put onto your business cards? There is no right and wrong answer these question, but the impression you want to give has to thought about carefully you want to show professionalism and an experience in what your selling tailored to the right buyer. For example; you wouldn’t get many high end customers coming to buy a Bentley from ‘Dave Smith Motors’ if his cards had a picture of a used banger and printed on a thin card almost paper to feel, but if Dave Smith became ‘DS Executive Cars’ and the card was on a thick textured board with contemporary design this will lead to a higher class first impression.
Now what information do you have on your cards? We see hundreds of cards per month and each are different but don’t forget what this card is going to be used for generally, Contacting you! So no matter what sales funnels you would like the potential customer to go down make it easy to speak to you. Looking at our business cards we have:
The name of the company
The Address
The main Telephone number
The web address
Our twitter name
on the reverse at the moment we have a range of tasteful images to show off our printing quality we have tried to pick some that would appeal to all types of people and finally a brief list in three bullet points of what we do i.e. Printing, Storage & Distribution. This is so often missed you must remember that if you do not tell your customers what you do then how are they to know?
Back to the Front of the cards we personalise each card with the Individuals name being the largest text next to the logo as it’s the most important information, the job title, the direct line telephone number and personal email address.
So you see that there is a lot of information you could get onto a card of standard size – 85 x 55mm but the choice is yours. I have seen cards with just a name and web address as the only information on the card and I have also seen cards with 4 pages to give more information to the potential client.
I hope that helps someone out there
Till next time…
